“Charity is the root of all good works” – Saint Augustine.

Born and bred in Singapore, Desmond Teo Yen Koon has been heavily involved in philanthropical and humanitarian efforts in Singapore and abroad. Growing up in the thriving Singapore city, he was exposed to both luxury and poverty in various forms. Having a strong passion for welfare and an advocate of social causes since he was a boy, Desmond Teo Yen Koon believes that everyone should give back to his or her community in some way and form. He maintains, with full conviction, that it is one’s duty to help the needy and poor around him.

Desmond Teo Yen Koon has always subscribed to the belief that true happiness derives from helping others in need. Thus, he has been an active member of several welfare programmes in Singapore and beyond. These include funding the construction of 10 columbaria at the Nirvana Memorial Garden for needy families who do not have the financial capabilities to afford a proper burial. Needy patrons of the six-star premium columbarium have benefitted tremendously from Desmond Teo Yen Koon’s donations. For Desmond Teo Yen Koon, he was, and still is, comforted to know about how his contributions have made a difference in the lives of others.
